Cork Underlayment
is a natural material, extremely effective for sound control (independently tested according to ASTM standards for acoustical values) and is an effective thermal insulation barrier. In addition, cork offers important stress crack protection.

Quite easy to install, environmentally friendly, our underlayment does not deteriorate after years of use and is an ideal and economical solution for your underlayment
requirements.

Cork underlayment is available in the following size rolls:

  • 4’ x 50’ x 6mm thickness (200 sq/ft),
  • 4’ x 100’ x 6mm thickness (400 sq/ft)
  • 4’ x 200’ x 3mm thickness (800 sq/ft).

Cork rolls can be sheeted with a sharp knife or razor blade.

Cork Underlayment, when used under HARDWOOD FLOORING, CERAMIC TILE and STONE, will…
• Reduce noise/sound transmission
• Be an effective thermal insulation barrier
• Offer stress crack protection

Natural cork is an excellent underlayment material, providing a good sound barrier, insulation value, & stress crack protection. Cork offers significant benefit over alternative materials, is economical and easy to install.

underlayment_flooringCork is the best choice for sound control underlayment. Cork contains millions of air-filled pockets in every cubic inch, enhancing its cushiony properties. These pockets compress under pressure and retain their shape as the pressure is removed. The same characteristic which makes cork an ideal surface flooring material is also responsible for cork’s success as an acoustic insulator.

Cork Rolls and Cork Sheets are an excellent underlayment for wooden floors, laminate floors (architectural and floating), ceramic tiles, and stone.

Cork underlayment is designed for use under flooring and is not recommended as a flooring surface or top layer of a floor. Please consider cork tiles and flooring that has been specifically designed as a surface material for the top of the floor.

Cork is the perfect environmentally friendly flooring underlayment choice for sound reduction and stress crack protection under hardwood, laminate, ceramic and stone floors.

Cork-oak-tree1Cork is a renewable resource. Trees are not damaged or destroyed to produce any Manton cork products. In fact, cork trees are protected by law. Cork trees produce an outer bark, cork as we know it, which is harvested every 9 and 12 years.

Overview:

  • Cork acts as a good sound barrier. One-quarter inch of cork reduces noise levels by ten decibels. Cork underlayment earns the added bonuses of vibration absorption and a barrier for dampness.
  • Cork has been installed in the Mayo Clinic, Lincoln Center, The Library of Congress, and The National Archives Building.
  • The key to natural bark beauty, grown in the Iberian Peninsula, is its unique cellular structure of 14-sided, density packed air-filled cells. These cells give cork its thermal and acoustical insulation traits, its lightweight compressibility, fire-retardant, and liquid/gas impermeable qualities.
  • The construction industry uses cork for a variety of purposes – thermal and sound insulation, in expansion and compression joints in concrete structures, to reduce wear and to eliminate vibrations. In recent years, the increase in the price of oil and its derivatives has brought an increase in the use of cork as a means of saving energy. An air cushion is one of the most efficient means of insulation known. Cork, with its cellular structure where air is a major component, offers a high level of thermal insulation.
  • Composition cork acts as a cushion with gradual compression recovery, reducing noise and shock transmission. As an underlayment, cork often eliminates the need for sleeper and sub-floor construction, making significant cost-savings contributions to any contracting project.
  • Cork is a natural choice as an underlayment material. It’s resilient, an extraordinary insulator, fire-retardant, indifferent to temperature extremes, impervious to sound and seepage, lightweight and unlike money, it grows on trees.
