Cork is the best choice for sound control underlayment. Cork contains millions of air-filled pockets in every cubic inch, enhancing its cushiony properties. These pockets compress under pressure and retain their shape as the pressure is removed. The same characteristic which makes cork an ideal surface flooring material is also responsible for cork’s success as an acoustic insulator.
Cork Rolls and Cork Sheets are an excellent underlayment for wooden floors, laminate floors (architectural and floating), ceramic tiles, and stone.
Cork underlayment is designed for use under flooring and is not recommended as a flooring surface or top layer of a floor. Please consider cork tiles and flooring that has been specifically designed as a surface material for the top of the floor.
